Terms and conditions

I accept commissions in the form of paintings, drawings and illustrations whose subjects you choose and which are executed to your specification in my style. I can paint, draw and illustrate anything but am focussing on pets, people, and property. I also undertake a wide range of graphic design work.

Commissioned artwork prices:

Here are some sample prices (in reference to pet portraiture). These prices do not include framing, and shipping though framing can be undertaken prior to delivery upon request.

Each painting is formatted according to the best composition of the piece or subject. As a result work may not be sized to standard sizes. The following information is therefore given only as a reference for prices:

Drawing:

  • image size 12” x 9” £60
  • image size 16” x 12” £150

Painting:

  • image size 12” x 9” £100
  • image size 16” x 12” £250
  • image size 24” x 16” £400

The process (Commissioned artwork):

  1. Email me high definition (300dpi) digital photos (jpegs or pdfs) of the subject and the approximate size you would like your painting or illustration to be. Photographs taken with a 35mm camera or a digital camera are best. Photos need to be clear, in focus, show true colour, and are at least 4” x 6”. If you have traditional printed photos please send/ give me only copies of your original materials.
  1. After I review the material you have supplied, I will contact you to discuss the details of your future painting. The smallest size I paint is 12” x 9” (31 x 23cm).
  1. I will then produce one or more black and white sketches of what I propose to paint, for your review and approval.
  1. Once I receive your approval, a ‘Commission Agreement’ with an estimate and a written description of your future painting will be emailed to you.
  1. When I receive the signed and completed ‘Commission Agreement’ with 50% deposit, the painting will be scheduled to begin. Before your painting is finished, I will send you an image of your painting–in-progress for your review and any minor adjustments.
  1. Your painting should take roughly 4 – 6 weeks to complete, depending on the number of commissions that I have as well as the size and complexity of your particular painting. Upon completion of your painting, I will email a picture of the completed painting and an invoice for the balance due.
  1. Upon receipt of the balance, I will either ship your painting to you, deliver it to you personally or agree a mutually convenient time when you can collect your painting.

Graphic Design work:

I aim to provide a professional service across a range of graphics requirements from concept and art working through to deliverables covering advertising, branding/ corporate identity, illustration, packaging, editorial design, point of sale, etc.

I charge at a rate of £30 per hour for any graphic design work undertaken related to a client brief.
